Ferguson Snell & Associates -UK Immigration Update – IHS
In 2015 the UK Government introduced the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) payable by third country nationals and their family members applying for visas to live in the UK for six months or more to work, study or join their family here. The payment ensures that such migrants have access to the National Health Service (NHS).
The UK Government has now proposed to increase the IHS from £200 to £400 per person per year (e.g. a total IHS of £2,400 for a 3 year work visa holder and their spouse) and the discounted rate for students and migrants under Youth Mobility Scheme from £150 to £300 per person per year.
These changes are due to take effect later this year following Parliamentary approval. Ferguson Snell will keep you informed of developments.
